Research towards the Footwear Manifesto report was initiated as an outcome of a summit in 2022 that brought thought leaders from the footwear industry, waste management, investors, and government to MIT to discuss opportunities for footwear in the circular economy. As of September 2023, the report is available to the entire industry and the public.
